RearOilSeal(Cont).CLEANINGDry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don’t breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.(a) Clean all parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using clean cloths.(b) Remove all traces of gasket from oil seal retainer and cylinder blockusing clean cloth moistened with cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry usingclean cloths.INSTALLATION (SHEET 1 OF 2)(a) Lubricate new rear oil seal lip using grease. Press oil seal into re-tainer until seal lip is 0.060 to 0.090 inch inside oil seal retainerrim all the way around.(b) Apply non-hardening sealant to the housing flange on engine, from lowercapscrew holes to bottom of flange only.(c) Install new gasket and apply non-hardening sealant to gasket from lowercapscrew holes to bottom of gasket. Trim excess gasket material.4-38
