PRIMARY FILTER INSTALLATION - CONTINUED
6.
Place battery disconnect and engine start switch in ON position for 60 seconds prior to cranking engine (TM 5-3805-
290-10).
7.
Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached (TM 5-3805-290-10).
8.
Shut down engine (TM 5-3805-290-10).
9.
Check for fuel system leaks.
SECONDARY FILTER REMOVAL
1.
Open drain valve (7) and allow fuel to drain com-
petely.
2.
Remove fuel filter (8) by rotating locking ring (9)
counterclockwise.
3.
If necessary, inspect fuel filter (8) for debris. Pour out
fuel into a suitable container. Inspect for contamina-
tion. Discard fuel filter.
4.
Clean fuel filter mounting base (10).
5.
Remove any part of old seal that remains on fuel filter
mounting base (10).

SECONDARY FILTER INSTALLATION
CAU T I ON
DO NOT fill fuel filter with fuel before installation. Contaminated fuel will cause accelerated wear to fuel
system parts.
1.
Position fuel filter (8) on fuel filter mounting base (10).
2.
Rotate locking ring (9) clockwise in order to fasten fuel filter element (8) to fuel filter mounting base (10).
3.
Ensure drain valve (7) is fully closed.
4.
Place battery disconnect and engine start switch in ON position for 60 seconds prior to cranking engine (TM 5-3805-
290-10).
5.
Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached (TM 5-3805-290-10).
6.
Shut down engine (TM 5-3805-290-10).
7.
Check for fuel system leaks.
