STEERING CONTROL VALVE TEST CONTINUED
NOTE
Pressure gauge may bounce during test. Turn gauge snubber knob (Figure 44, Item 7) to
dampen gauge bounce.
14. Close load valve (Figure 44, Item 3) on flowmeter (Figure 44, Item 4). Record pressure gauge (Figure 44,
Item 2) reading on flowmeter checksheet (7a). Pressure should be 150 psi (1,034 kPa) or greater.
15. Turn steering wheel full right and hold against stop (TM 5-2420-231-10).
NOTE
Ensure jam nut is contacting base of load valve knob.
During adjustment, load valve knob may feel loose.
16. Open load valve (Figure 44, Item 3) on flowmeter (Figure 44, Item 4) until the pressure gauge (Figure 44,
Item 1) reads 1,000 psi (6,895 kPa).
17. Press POWER button (Figure 44, Item 6) to activate flow gauge (digital readout) (Figure 44, Item 5).
18. Holding steering wheel against stop, slowly close load valve (Figure 44, Item 3) observing flowmeter
(Figure 44, Item 5).
19. When flow drops dramatically in volume on the flow gauge (Figure 44, Item 5), record the reading of the
pressure gauge (Figure 44, Item 1) on flowmeter checksheet (7b).
20. Continue to close load valve (Figure 44, Item 3) on flowmeter (Figure 44, Item 4) until the flow gauge
(Figure 44, Item 5) reads 0 gpm (Lpm). Record the reading of the pressure gauge (Figure 44, Item 1) on
flowmeter checksheet (7c).
21. Fully open load valve (Figure 44, Item 3) on flowmeter (Figure 44, Item 4).
22. Decrease engine speed to idle and turn machine off (TM 5-2420-231-10).
