Connect multimeter between starter
solenoid BAT terminal and MTR termi-

Multimeter should indicate 0.1 volt or
l e s s.
a. If multimeter indicates more than
0 . 1 v o l t , r e p l a c e d e f e c t i v e s t a r t-
er (page 5-16).
b. If multimeter indicates 0.1 volt
o r l e s s , r e p l a c e b a t t e r y p o s i t i ve
cable (page 5-158).
Connect multimeter across negative battery cable (between negative
post on front battery and starter ground terminal).
T e l l a s s i s t a n t t o p l a c e i g n i t i o n k e y s w i t c h i n s t a r t p o s i t i o n.
Multimeter should indicate 0.4 volt or less.
a. If multimeter indicates more than 0.4 volt, replace battery
ground cable (page 5-158).
