If defective wire is nota c c e s s i b l e f o r r e p a i r , o r i f w i r i n g h a r n e s s i s b a d l y d a m a g e d , n o t i fydirect support maintenance to replace wiring harness.(1)Repair cut or defective wire by cutting length of same gage and colorwire. Strip 1/4 inch insulation from end of wires taking care not to cutthrough wires.s u l a t e d s p l i c e(2)Repair crackedaround damagedSplice ends ofconnectors.or broken wirearea of wire.new wire to ends of harness wire using in-insulation by wrapping insulation tape(3) Repair cut or frayed harness outer covering by wrapping insulation tapearound damaged area.(4) Repair rear wiring harness connector as follows:( a)Loosen and remove nut and washer and pull connector shell frommounting bracket as shown.5-174( b )Loosen and remove connector nut from connector shell and slide alongwiring harness. Pull grommet with inserts from connector shell.
