TM 5-3805-262-342-8. TRANSMISSION TROUBLESHOOTINGMALFUNCTIONTEST OR INSPECTIONCORRECTIVE ACTION1. FOAMY OIL.Remove transmission charging pump (page 3-344).Check charging pump gasket for wear or damage.Replace gasket if worn or damaged and reinstall pump (page 3-345).2. SLOW OR ERRATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTING.Step 1. Check transmission oil level (refer to TM 5-3805-262-10). Add oil asnecessary.Remove clutch pressure switch from transmission control valve (referto TM 5-3805-262-20).Connect pressure gage hose to transmission control valve port fromwhich clutch pressure switch was removed. Be sure pressure gage hoseis long enough so that you can read gage from operator-s seat incab.Start engine and operate at idle speed.If CONV TEMP gage pointer isnot approximately 1/2 inch from bottom of gage:Be sure parking brake valve knob is pushed in.Press brake treadle and valve and move transmission control leverto H position.Increase engine speed to full throttle and hold for 30 seconds.Set transmission control lever to N position and operate engine atidle speed for ten seconds.Repeat the above until CONV TEMP gage needle is approximately 1/2inch from bottom of gage.Decrease engine speed to 800 rpm. Be sure transmission control leveris in N position. Pressure gage should indicate 135 psi.2-85
