2-8. TRANSMISSION TROUBLESHOOTING (CONT)
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
2. SLOW OR ERRATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTING (Cont).
Step 1. (Cont).
Press brake treadle and valve to prevent loader from moving. With
engine operating at 800 rpm, put transmission control lever in R
position. Pressure gage should indicate 135 psi.
Press brake treadle and valve to prevent loader from moving. With
engine operating at 800 rpm, put transmission control lever in F
position. Pressure gage should indicate 135 psi.
Press brake treadle and valve to prevent loader from moving. With
engine operating at 800 rpm, put transmission control lever in H
position. Pressure gage should indicate 125 to 132 psi.
Put transmission control lever in N position. Turn off engine.

If pressure gage indication was low for all positions of trans-
mission control lever:
(1) Drain transmission oil and clean suction strainer screen
(refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).
(2) Replace transmission filter (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).
(3) Clutch cutout cylinder is being activated. Check clutch cut-
out cylinder (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20). If clutch cutout
cylinder is okay, replace transmission control valve (page
3-341) and forward to general support maintenance for repair
(spool and spring must be checked).
(4) Replace transmission control valve (page 3-341) and forward
to general support maintenance. Main pressure regulator
spring is broken or spool is sticking.
(5) Charging pump is worn. Replace (page 3-344) and forward to
general support maintenance for repair.
If pressure gage indication was correct with transmission con-
trol lever in neutral but was low in R, F, or H, transmission
must be removed and replaced (page 3-330). Transmission must be
disassembled and new sealing rings installed on reverse, for-
ward, or high clutch piston.
If pressure gage indication was too high, replace transmission
control valve (page 3-341) and forward to general support main-
tenance. Spool in main pressure regulator is not moving freely.
