Install transfer gear assembly (21 thru 23), bearing (21) down, on
splined hub of forward clutch carrier. If necessary, install two
capscrews (1) in gear assembly to use as handles for installing gear
assembly. Use a soft hammer to hit transfer gear assembly to be sure it
is all the way down.
Put a prybar between forward
clutch carrier and reverse
clutch carrier and hub to hold
up forward clutch carrier.
Install retaining ring (3) to
attach transfer gear assembly
(21 thru 23) to forward clutch
carrier.
Liberally apply lubricating oil
to surface of transfer gear
(23).
Install high range clutch hub
assembly (13 thru 20), splined
end of high range clutch hub
(20) down, onto hub of transfer
gear (23). Be sure that trans-
fer gear pins (22) engage tabs
on clutch plate (19).
Liberally apply lubricating oil
to clutch plate (18).
Position high range clutch pis-

assembly (13 thru 20). Aline
capscrew (1) holes of high
range clutch piston housing
(12) and transfer gear (23) and
holes in piston with pins in
transfer gear (23).
Using soft hammer, push high range clutch piston housing (12) against
transfer gear (23).
NOTE
In following step, put a punch between teeth of transfer gear (23) and
output gear to prevent transfer gear from turning.
