a. Differential Carrier (Cont).
CLEANING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.
Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilated
area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don-t breathe
vapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and dont smoke
when using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-
come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medical

Clean bearing (22) and cone and rollers (15 and 20) by immersing in
cleaning solvent P-D-680 and slowly moving up and down. Remove from
cleaning solvent and strike larger side of cone against a block of wood
to dislodge solidified particles of lubricant. Immerse again in cleaning
solvent and repeat above until clean. Dry using compressed air. Direct
air stream across bearing to avoid spinning. Dont spin bearings when
drying; rotate slowly by hand to facilitate drying. After drying, lubri-
cate using clean hypoid gear oil. Keep in a clean area.
Clean differential carrier (27) by immersing in cleaning solvent P-D-680
and agitate cleaning solvent. Let differential carrier soak for several
minutes. Remove from bath. Use compressed air to clear and dry recesses
in differential carrier.
Clean remaining parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using clean
cloths.
