DifferentialCarrier(Cont).DISASSEMBLY (SHEET 4 OF 4)NOTEPerform steps (25) through (27) below only if inspection indicates coneand rollers (20) and bearing (22) require replacement.(25) Put pinion (23) in hydraulic press, coneand rollers (20) side up. Put bearingcollar on cone and rollers then presspinion (23) shaft from cone and rollers.Discard cone and rollers.NOTEEnd of pinion (23) shaft is staked againstinner race of bearing (22). Be sure togrind end of pinion shaft so that bearingcan be removed.(26) Grind end of pinion (23) shaft where it isstaked against inner race of bearing (22).(27) Put pinion (23) in hydraulic press, bearing (22) side up, and put collaron bearing. Press pinion shaft from bearing. Discard bearing.(28) If necessary, remove plug (24) from differential carrier (27).(29) If necessary, remove nut (25) and thrust screw (26) from differentialcarrier (27).4-222
