STEERING CYLINDER ASSEMBLIES MAINTENANCE (CONT)DISASSEMBLY (SHEET 2 OF 3)In following step, put clean cloths between support stand and rod (7) toprevent damaging rod.e.f.g.h.i.j.k.l.Put rod (7) in vise and a supportstand under rod near piston assembly(17 thru 20).Remove capscrew (2) and washer (3)from rod (7). If necessary, usetorque wrench multiplier.Remove piston assembly (17 thru 20)from rod (7).Remove gland assembly (8 thru 16)from rod (7). If necessary, use softhammer.Remove two retaining rings (4) using retaining ring pliers.Remove bearing (5) from rod (7) using proper size sleeve.Remove lubrication fitting (6) from rod (7).Disassemble gland assembly (8 thru 16) as follows:(1)Remove and discard O-ring (8).(2)Remove and discard backup ring (9).(3)Remove and discard seals (10 and 11).(4)If present, remove plug (12) onlycylinder tube (24) more than five(5)Remove and discard wiper (13).NOTEif gland (16) has been removed fromtimes.Retaining ring (14) is pressed into gland (16); don-t attempt to removeretaining ring (14).(6)Remove bushing (15) from gland (16).m. Disassemble piston assembly (17 thru 20) as follows:(1)Remove and discard two wear rings (17).4-242
