DifferentialCaseandGearAssembly(Cont).REASSEMBLY (SHEET 1 OF 2)(1)If ring gear (16) was removed, put ring gear in oven and heat to 160 to180 degrees.(2)Install four new capscrews (12) in case (15) to be used as guides wheninstalling ring gear (16).When handling heated parts, wear heat resistant gloves to preventburning your hands. If you are burned, obtain medical assistanceimmediately.(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)(9)When ring gear (16) has been in oven at 160 to 180 degrees for ten mi-nutes, install ring gear on case (15). If ring gear does not installeasily onto case, heat ring gear again.Remove four guide capscrews (12).Install 12 new capscrews (12) , washers (14), and new nuts (13) . Tightencapscrews to 85 to 115 lb-ft.If removed, press cone and rollers(10) onto cases (11 and 15) usinghydraulic press and suitable sizesleeve. Lubricate cone and rollersusing hypoid gear oil.Install four gears (8) and thrustwashers (7) on spider (9).Install thrust washer (6) and gear(5) in case (15).Install spider (9), gears (8), and thrust washers (7) as an assembly incase (l5)-mating teeth of gears (8) with gear (5).(10) Install gear (4) and thrust washer (3) in case (15) mating gear teethwith gears (8).(11) Apply clean hypoid gear oil to thrust washers (3, 6, and 7) and gears (4,5, and 8).(12) Apply thread sealant to threads of case (15) holes.4-238
