Tell assistant to release accelerator pedal and shut down engine. Then
have assistant press accelerator pedal fully.
Check that governor control lever rests against no-load governed speed
adjustment screw. If necessary, adjust throttle linkage (refer to TM
5-3805-262-20) until control lever contacts adjustment screw. Then
tell assistant to release accelerator pedal.
Recheck engine no-load governed speed, steps 1 and 2 above. Go to step
6 below if tachometer does not indicate specified no-load governed
speed.
Cut, remove, and discard wire seal, then pull plastic cap from nut and
adjustment screw.
To increase no-load governed speed, loosen nut and turn adjustment
screw 1/2 turn counterclockwise. To decrease no-load governed speed,
loosen nut and turn adjustment screw 1/2 turn clockwise. Then hold
adjustment screw and tighten nut.
Recheck engine no-load governed speed, steps 1 and 2 above. If neces-
sary, readjust no-load governed speed adjustment screw, step 7 above.
Repeat until tachometer indicates specified no-load governed speed.
Position plastic cap over adjustment screw and nut, and install new
wire seal. Pull wire into tight loop and crimp seal to secure plastic
cap.
