FuelFeedPump (Cont) .CLEANINGDry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don’t breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.(1)Scrape all gasket material from fuel feed pump and fuel injection pumpmating surfaces using putty knife. Clean residue using cleaning solventP-D-680 and clean cloths.Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30 psi. Useonly with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment(goggles/shield, gloves, etc). Failure to do so could cause seriousinjury to eyes and possible blindness. If you hurt your eyes or if aforeign object is blown into yourimmediately.(2) Clean roller tappet (24, 25, andP-D-680 and slowly moving up andair stream across roller (25) toeyes,seek medical attention26) by immersing in cleaning solventdown. Dry using compressed air. Directavoid spinning. Don’t spin roller whendrying; rotate roller slowly by hand to facilitate drying. After drying,immerse roller tappet in clean engine oil.(3) Clean all metal parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Clear body (28)bores and dry remaining parts using compressed air.3-132
