TM 5-3805-262-34INSPECTION/REPAIR(1) Inspect three studs (5) located on fuel injection pump for cracks anddamaged or stripped threads. Repair thread damage by chasing with die. Ifthreads cannot be cleaned up or stud is cracked, remove stud using pliersand install new stud.(2)Inspect body (28) for cracks, distortion, and damaged threads. Repairpitted or scored body bores using cylinder hone. Replace fuel feed pumpas an assembly if body (28) requires replacement.(3) Inspect roller tappet (24, 25, and 26) by rotating roller (25) andchecking that it turns smoothly without wobble. Check for flat spots,pitting, scratches, or cracks. If any of the above conditions are seen,press pin (26) from tappet (24), remove roller (25), and discard defec-tive parts. Then position roller (25) in tappet (24) and press in pin(26) to secure.NOTEReplace an item if inspection indicates need for replacement.(4) Inspect springs (15 and 21) for cracks, corrosion, or permanent set.(5) Inspect all other parts for cracks, distortion, excessive wear, or threaddamage.3-133
