INSTALLATION/ADJUSTMENT (SHEET 2 OF 3)
(5) Install fuel feed pump (page 3-135).
(6) Connect oil and fuel lines to fuel injection pump (page 3-124).
(7) Connect throttle control and fuel shutoff control to fuel injection pump
(refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).

Position drive gear (12) with machined flange toward injection pump.

Install three lock washers (11) and Capscrews (10). Tighten to 35 to 42
lb-ft.
(10) Move fuel injection pump toward
or away from engine until timing
marks are alined.
(11) Tighten nuts (15 and 16) to 35
to 42 lb-ft.
(12) Using dial indicator, check drive
gear (12) to idler gear backlash.
Backlash should be 0.004 to 0.012
inch. If backlash exceeds 0.012
inch, replace drive gear.
(13) Position gear cover (8) with new gasket (9) on timing gear
(14) Install capscrews (3, 4, and 6) and lock washers (5 and 7)
noted during removal. Tighten capscrews (3 and 4) to 35 to
tighten capscrew (6) to 17 to 20 lb-ft.
(15) Route new wire (1) through holes in capscrews (4) and stud
crimp new seal (2) over wire (1) ends.
(16) Install plug (13) with gasket (14) in timing gear cover.
