Replace a rocker arm shaft if outside diameter is less than0.860 inch. Reassemble (page 3-69) and install rocker arm assem-bly and valve covers (page 3-71).NOTEBe sure you reassemble rocker arm assemblies correctly as described onpage 3-69. Failure to do so will cause high oil consumption.b. If rocker arm shafts are okay, go to step 7 below.Step 7.Remove cylinder head(s) (page 3-45).Remove valves (page 3-74).Check valve stem seals for wear or damage.a. If valve stem seals are worn or damaged, replace (page 3-86).b.If valve stem seals are okay, go to step 8 below.Step 8.
