TM 5-3805-262-34 INSPECTION (1) Inspect cone and rollers (21 and 22) by rotating and checking that they turn smoothly. Check rollers for flat areas, pitting, scored, scratched, chipped, or cracked races. NOTE Replace mating bearing cup (28 or 29) if cone and rollers (21 or 22) is replaced. Replace mating cone and rollers (21 or 22) if bearing cup (28 or 29) is replaced. (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) Measure brake disk (26) thickness using micrometer. Replace brake disk (26) if thickness is less than 0.500 inch. NOTE Replace an item if inspection indicates need for replacement. Inspect axle shaft (4) for cracks or damaged splines. Inspect ring gear (6), ring gear hub (10), pinion gears (15), and sun gear (20) for cracks, breaks, pitting, or missing or damaged teeth. Inspect planetary gear spider (3) and wheel hub (31) for cracks, breaks, distortion, or damage. Inspect caliper adapter (35) for cracks, breaks, or deformed or distorted caliper mounting holes. Inspect wheel spindle (39) for cracks, breaks, nicks, deformed or dis- torted mounting holes, cracked or chipped splines, or damaged threads. Inspect remaining parts for cracks, breaks, deformation, distortion, or thread damage. 3-403
