Calipers (Cont).CLEANING AND INSPECTIONDry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don-t breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately.If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwith large amounts of water.If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswith water and get medical aid immediately.(1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)Clean all metal parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Allow to air dry.Rinse using clean brake fluid until all traces of cleaning solvent P-D-680 are removedNOTEReplace an item if inspection indicates need for replacement.Inspect piston caps (3) for cracks or damage. Remove scratches or corro-sion using fine abrasive cloth; replace if beyond repair.Inspect body (11) for cracks, distortion, scoring, pitting, or damage.Remove scratches or corrosion using fine abrasive cloth. Replace caliperif damage cannot be removed.Inspect piston bores in body (11) for scoring, pitting, and other damage.Use fine abrasive cloth to make piston bores smooth and round. If thiscan’t be done, replace caliper.Inspect pistons (7) for scoring, pitting, or other damage. Use fine abra-sive cloth to make surface of pistons smooth and round. If this can’t bedone , replace pistons.Inspect remaining parts for cracks, distortion, or thread damage.3-428
