TEST NO. 1 - HYDRAULIC PUMP STEERING SECTION
j.
Install flowmeter in loader cab.
k.
Set flowmeter controls as follows;
RANGE switch in HI position
ON/OFF switch in ON position
(SHEET 4 OF 5)
PRESSURE VALVE control completely open
FLOW switch in FLOW position
1.
Start and operate engine at idle speed.
m.
Press and hold flowmeter TEMPERATURE switch
and watch flowmeter TEMPERATURE gage. Gage
should indicate 130 degrees. If indication is
not correct go to step n below; if gage
indicates 130 degrees go to step p below.
n.
Depress accelerator pedal and increase engine speed to 1500 rpm and close
flowmeter PRESSURE VALVE control until flowmeter PRESSURE gage indicates
1000 psi. Watch flowmeter TEMPERATURE gage while pressing and holding
flowmeter TEMPERATURE switch. Continue-to operate-engine at 1500 rpm until
gage indicates 130 degrees then release accelerator pedal.
o.
Open flowmeter PRESSURE VALVE control completely.
p.
Depress accelerator pedal and increase engine speed to 2000 rpm. Record
flowmeter FLOW gage reading.
q.
With engine operating at 2000 rpm, slowly close
control until PRESSURE gage indicates 2100 psi.
r.
Ensure that engine speed is 2000 rpm and record
s.
Open PREASURE VALVE control completely and turn
flowmeter PRESSURE VALVE
flowmeter FLOW gage reading.
off engine.
t.
If flow recorded in step p above is less than 23 gallons per minute:
(1) There is an air leak or restriction between hydraulic pump and reservoir
(change hydraulic filter, check hoses, lines, and fittings; refer to TM
5-3805-262-20).
(2) Steering section of hydraulic pump is worn or damaged; replace hydraulic
pump (page 3-612).
u.
If flow recorded in step p above is 23 gallons per minute or more, lines
between pump and reservoir are okay.
