TM 5-3805-262-343-27. BUCKET CLAMSHELL CYLINDER ASSEMBLIES MAINTENANCE (CONT)REASSEMBLY (SHEET 1 OF 3)a. Press bushings (4) in rod (6) eye trunnion using hammer and 1-3/4 inchesdiameter rod. Install with chamfer inward and until bushing is flush withouter surface.b. Install lubrication fitting (5) in rod (6).c. Install new backup ring (18) in center groove ofpiston (19).d. Lubricate new seal (17) using clean lubricating oil.e. Install seal (17) over backup ring (18) on piston (19).f. Install two new wear rings (16) in grooves on outsideedges of piston (19).g. Install bushing (13) in gland (15).h. Install new wiper (11) with lips of wiper toward largei. If removed, install plug (14) in gland (15).j.Install new seals (9 and 10), lip of seal(10) towards small end of gland (15). Seatseals using blunt tool.NOTEIn following step, if backup ring (8)is not flat on both sides, curved sidemust be toward small end of gland (15).k. Install new backup ring (8) and new O-ringend of gland (15).(7) in gland (15) as shown.In following step, place clean cloth between support stand and rod (6)to prevent damaging rod.l. Put rod (6) eye in vise with support stand under rod.m. Lubricate rod (6) and gland (15) bore using clean lubricating oil.n. Install gland (15) on rod (6). Drive gland onto rod using rubber mallet, ifnecessary.o. Install piston (19) on rod (6).3-748
