3-28. HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR MAINTENANCE
This task covers removal and installation of hydraulic reservoir.
TOOLS: No. 1 Common Organizational Maintenance Tool Kit
Fixed open end wrench set
Socket wrench set, 3/8 inch drive
Chain hoist
MATERIALS/PARTS: Lubricating oil (Appendix C, item 15)
PERSONNEL REQUIRED: Two Construction Equipment Mechanics MOS 62B
REFERENCES: TM 5-3805-262-20
NOTE
PRELIMINARY PROCEDURE: Hydraulic oil drained, hydraulic filter assembly
removed and hose disconnected from hydraulic reservoir, air hose
disconnected,
and hydraulic pump hose disconnected from hydraulic
reservoir (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).
REMOVAL
a. Remove three nuts (1), lock washers (2), and capscrews (3).
When using chain hoist to remove or install parts, be sure chain hoist
is securely fastened to part and that all slack in chain is taken up.
Failure to do so could cause serious injury due to part falling on you.
If you are injured by falling equipment, obtain medical aid immediately.
b. Connect chain hoist to hydraulic reservoir (4). Slowly raise hydraulic
reservoir, guide through front access door and remove from loader.
c. Remove sight gage (5) from hydraulic reservoir (4).
NOTE
If hydraulic reservoir (4) requires repair, install fill cap, cover,
gasket, and drain plug (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20) and forward it to
general support maintenance.
