Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support and use assistance during pro-
cedure. Failure to follow this warning may result in injury to personnel.
N OT E
Batteries weigh 60 lb (27.2 kg) for standard machines and 119 lb (54 kg) for cold-weather-equipped
machines.
1.
With assistance, position battery (12) in battery compartment (10).
2.
Tighten four bolts (11) on battery compartment (10).
3.
Install battery hold down (8), two washers (7), and
new locknuts (6) on rods (9).
4.
Position battery hold down (8) on two rods (9) and
battery (12).
5.
Repeat steps 1 thru 4 for other battery.
6.
Connect cable clamps (4 and 5) to battery terminals
(2) and tighten two nuts (3).
7.
Install two protective covers (1) on battery terminals
(2).
8.
Repeat steps 6 and 7 for other battery.

9.
Start engine to verify correct operation of electrical system (TM 5-3805-290-10).
