TESTING - CONTINUED
N OT E
Perform the following procedures to determine if fuel injector nozzle is not functioning properly.
Before a fuel injector nozzle can be tested, you must remove any loose carbon from tip of fuel injector
nozzle. DO NOT use abrasive material or a wire brush to clean nozzle.
Fuel injector nozzles are not serviceable. Disassembling or adjusting nozzle may violate standards for
emissions.
1.
Run engine at low idle.
CAU T I ON
If leakage occurs at nut for fuel supply line after tightening, make sure that fuel supply line and nut
for fuel supply line are correctly aligned with the inlet connection of fuel injector nozzle. DO NOT
tighten nut for fuel supply line on high pressure fuel line more than recommended torque. If nut is
tightened more, fuel line may become restricted or threads of fuel injector nozzle and nut may be
damaged.
2.
Loosen nut for fuel supply line at fuel injector nozzle on cylinder number 1. Listen for low idle to decrease or become
rough. Tighten nut for fuel supply line on cylinder number 1. Perform this test on each cylinder.
3.
The fuel injector nozzle is faulty when fuel supply line is loosened and the following events occur:
a.
Engine rpm does not decrease.
b.
Engine does not idle roughly.
4.
Remove fuel injector nozzle for additional testing.
