Be sure that the engine is filled to the correct levelwith eitherSAE10 or SAE30 oil. If any otherviscosity of oil ia used, theinformation in the ENGINE OIL PRESSURE CHART doesnotapply.Step2. Find a location on the engine oil manifoldto install a tee. Theeaaiest method is to remove the sendingunit for the presentgaugeand install a tee at this location. Install a probefrom the9S9 102 Thermistor Thermometer Group in one side of the tee.Connect a 8M2744 Gauge from the 5P6225 Hydraulic TestBox to the otherside of the tee.PRESSUREStep3. Run the engine to get the oil temperature at 90”C (21 O”F).NOTE: A 3°C(5” F) increase in oil temperature gives approximately 7kPa (1 psi)decrease in oil pressure.Step 4. Keep the engine oil temperature constant. With the engine atthe rpm from the chart, read the pressure gauge.Make a comparison between the pressure reading on the test gaugeand the minimum permissible pressure from the ENGINE OIL PRES-SURE CHART. If the pressure reading on the test gauge is below theminimum permissible pressure, find the cause and correct it. Operationof the engine with low oil pressure can be the cause of engine failure orof a reduction in engine life.ENGINE OIL PRESSURE CHARTMINIMUMPERMISSIBLETESTSAE NO.PRESSUREENGINErpmOF TEST OILkPapai1500 rpm1014020or above30330416524600 to 80010406rpm305072-13
