Install idler gear shaft (25)
in cylinder block.
Install thrust washer (24) on
idler gear shaft (25).
Install idler gear (23), thrust
plate (22), and capscrew (21)
on idler gear shaft (25).
Tighten capscrew to 90 to 96
lb-ft.
Install camshaft thrust spring
and thrust plunger.
Using a thickness gage,
check end clearance of idler
gear (23). Measure between
thrust plate and idler gear.
End clearance shall be not
more than 0.010 inch. Re-
place thrust plate (22),
thrust washer (24), or idler
gear (23) in any combination
of parts necessary to obtain
0.010 inch or less end
clearance.
