Using thickness gage, check pump gears to
body radial clearance. If clearance is
greater than 0.004 inch, replace oil pump.
Check pump body and gears for scoring.
Replace oil pump if scoring is seen.
Check pump cover for scoring.
Replace oil pump if scoring is
seen.
Put a piece of plastigage on both pump gears and install pump cover.
Install and tighten four capscrews to 24 to 29 lb-ft.

Remove four capscrews and remove pump cover. Using plastigage scale,
check clearance between pump cover and gears. Clearance shall be not more
than 0.005 inch. Replace oil pump if clearance is more than 0.005 inch.
Position pump cover on body and install and tighten four capscrews to 24
to 29 lb-ft. Adjust cover position while tightening capscrews to get free
rotation of gears.
Use spring gage to check spring compression under load. Replace spring
(3) if pressure required to compress spring to 1.252 inches is not 23.8
to 25.6 pounds.
