4. AUXILIARY STEERING SYSTEM DOES NOT OPERATE (Cont).
Step 3.
Disassemble auxiliary steering pump (page 3-535).
Measure drive gear and driven gear width using micrometer.
Width must not be less than 1.0562 inch.
Measure drive and driven gear shaft diameter using micrometer.
Diameter must not be less than 0.4998 inch.
a. Replace drive and driven gears as necessary.
b.
If drive and driven gears check okay, inspect front and rear
covers and center body for damage or distortion; replace as
necessary.
