2-14. FRAME AND TOWING ATTACHMENTS TROUBLESHOOTING
MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. CHASSIS SPINDLE ASSEMBLY BINDS WHEN TURNING.
Inspect chassis spindle assembly for
loose, worn or damaged parts.
a. If parts are loose, tighten.

If parts are worn or dam-
aged, replace (page 4-250).
2. EXCESSIVE PLAY AT CHASSIS SPINDLE ASSEMBLY
WHEN TURNING.
Watch chassis spindle assembly while
assistant drives vehicle over rough
terrain.
Replace chassis spindle assem-
bly bearings or spindles (page
4-250) if excessive play is
observed.
3. EXCESSIVE NOISE AT CHASSIS PIVOT ASSEMBLY WHEN TURNING.
Lubricate two lubrication fittings at
chassis spindle assembly (refer to LO
5-3805-262-12) .
If noise remains, disassemble
chassis spindle assembly (page
4-250) .
Check thrust bearings and
bushings for wear or dam-
age. Replace as necessary
(page 4-254).
4. EXCESSIVE NOISE AT REAR CHASSIS TRUNNION.
Inspect trunnion assembly pivot pins and bushings for damage or wear.
Replace trunnion assembly pivot pins or bushings (page 4-258) if
damaged or worn.
