CLEANING
(1)
Clean valves (6 and 9) using power driven fine wire brush. Do not scratch
valve stems.
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.
Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilated
area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don-t breathe
vapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don-t smoke
when using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-
come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medical
attention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flush
with large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyes
with water and get medical aid immediately.

Clean all parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using clean cloths.
INSPECTION/REPAIR (SHEET 1 OF 6)

Check each spring (3) using spring gage. Check that force required to
compress spring (3) to 1.484 inches is 153 to 167 pounds. Check that
force required to compress spring (3) to 1.937 inches is 50.5 to 60.5
pounds. Replace spring (3) if measured force does not fall within these
ranges.

Inspect valve (6 or 9) for conditions shown. Replace valve if any of
these defects are seen.
