Discard gasket(8).CLEANINGDry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to cleanWear protective goggles and gloves andparts is toxic and flammable.use only in a well ventilatedarea. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and don’t breathevapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and don’t smokewhen using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medicalattention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flushwithwith(1)(2)large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyeswater and get medical aid immediately.Clean all parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using clean cloths.Scrape all gasket (5) material from intake manifold (4) and mating sur-face of cylinder heads using putty knife. Remove gasket residue usingcleaning solvent P-D-680 and dry using clean cloths.INSPECTION/REPAIRNOTEReplace an item if inspection in-dicates need for replacement.(1) Inspect intake manifold (4) forcracks, distortion, or areasweakened by rust or corrosion.(2)Inspect 12 studs (6) located oncylinder heads for cracks anddamaged or stripped threads.Repair thread damage by chasingwith 3/8-16 die. If threadscannot be cleaned up, removestud using pliers. Install newstud in cylinder head until itprotrudes 1.31 inch as shown.(3) Inspect all other parts for cracks,distortion, or thread damage.3-105
