a. Fuel Injector Nozzles (Cont ) .

In next step, don’t put grease on complete fuel injector or in nozzle
bore. Grease will become hard during operation of engine. This in turn

cause difficulty when removing fuel injector,
Install new nozzle gasket (2) on fuel
injector (l). Use oil-soluble grease
to hold nozzle gasket in position.
Install fuel injector in cylinder
head bore. Turn fuel injector to aid
installation. Fuel injector leak off
fitting must be towards valve cover.
Turn fuel injector retaining nut
clockwise into bore.
Loosely connect leak off line to fuel
injectors. This will aline fuel in-
jector with other injectors.
Put a 15 mm open end wrench on flats
of fuel injector to hold fuel injec-
tor in alinement with other fuel in-
jectors.
Tighten fuel injector retaining nut
to 35 to 45 lb-ft using 7/8 inch
Crowsfoot wrench.
Connect and hand tighten fuel inlet
line to fuel injector.
If necessary, connect and hand tigh-
ten leak off line between number one
fuel injector and fuel injection
pump.
Watch inlet fuel line while assistant
cranks engine. Tell assistant to stop
cranking engine when fuel comes out
of inlet fitting.
