CLEANING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 used to clean parts is toxic and flammable.
Wear protective goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilated
area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes and dont breathe
vapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat and dont smoke
when using it. Failure to do so could cause serious injury. If you be-
come dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air and medical
attention immediately. If contact with skin or clothes is made, flush
with large amounts of water. If contact with eyes is made, wash eyes
with water and get medical aid immediately.

Scrape gasket material from mating surfaces of timing gear cover, gear
cover (8), plates (24 and 61), and housing (68) using putty knife. Remove
residue using clean cloth moistened with cleaning solvent P-D-680.
Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30 psi. Use
only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment
(goggles/shield, gloves, etc). Failure to do so could cause serious
injury to eyes and possible blindness.
If you hurt your eyes or if a
foreign object is blown into your eyes, seek medical attention
immediately.

Clean housing (68) using clean cloth moistened with cleaning solvent
P-D-680. Clear housing (68) bores and dry using compressed air.
Clean bearings (on camshaft) and roller tappets by iumersing in cleaning
solvent P-D-680 and slowly moving up and down. Dry using compressed air.
Direct air stream across bearings and rollers to avoid spinning. Dont
spin bearings or rollers when drying; rotate slowly by hand to facilitate
drying. After drying bearings and rollers, lubricate using clean cali-
brating fluid. Keep roller tappets and bearing/camshaft assembly in a
clean area.
Remove protective grease from all new parts using cleaning solvent
P-D-680. Dry using compressed air. After drying, lubricate using clean
calibrating fluid and keep in a clean area.
Clean all other metal parts using cleaning solvent P-D-680. Dry using
clean cloths. Lubricate all moving parts using clean calibrating fluid,
and keep in a clean area.
