10. LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE (Cont).
Step 4.
Using micrometer, measure outside diameter of rocker arm shafts.
Outside diameter should be 0.860 inch minimum.
a. Replace a rocker arm shaft if outside diameter is less than
0.860 inch. Reassemble (page 3-69) and install rocker arm assem-
bly and valve covers (page 3-71).
NOTE
Be sure you reassemble rocker arm assemblies correctly as described on
page 3-69. Failure to do so will cause high oil consumption.
b. If rocker arm shafts are okay, go to step 5 below.
Step 5.
Remove oil pan (page 3-88).
Check that oil suction tube has not loosened and come off oil pump.
a. If oil suction tube has come off oil pump, reposition as shown.
Tighten oil suction tube nut 90 to 100 lb-ft using Crowsfoot
wrench. Reinstall oil pan (page 3-90).
b. If oil suction tube has not come off oil pump, go to step 6 be-
low.
Step 6. Check oil suction tube screen for presence of foreign matter.
a. If foreign matter is present on oil suction tube screen, loosen
nut and remove oil suction tube from engine.
