b. Flushing Water from Hydraulic System (Sheet 2 of 3).
(6) Replace steering hydraulic filter and hydraulic system filter (refer to
TM 5-3805-262-20).
Warn personnel to keep away from bucket. Be sure clam assembly is
securely supported before performing following step. Failure to do so
could result in severe injury or death due to clam assembly falling and
crushing personnel. If you are injured by falling equipment, obtain
medical aid immediately.
(7) Move each control lever in both directions to relieve hydraulic system
pressure. Then return all control levers to NEUT. or HOLD position.
(8) Disconnect hydraulic hose from rod end and closed end of each bucket tilt
cylinder assembly, lift cylinder assembly, and bucket clamshell cylinder
assembly (refer to TM 5-3805-262-20).
(9) Start engine and operate at idle speed.
Check hydraulic reservoir sight gage frequently while performing
following steps. Add oil to hydraulic reservoir if level is low (refer
to TM 5-3805-262-20).

Move LIFT ARM control lever in both directions until oil flows from dis-
connected hydraulic hoses. Hold LIFT ARM control lever in operating posi-
tions until clean hydraulic oil flows from hoses.
Repeat step (10) above for BUCKET and CLAM control levers.
Turn off engine.
Connect hydraulic hose to closed end of each hydraulic cylinder (refer to
TM 5-3805-262-20).
Start engine and operate at idle speed.
Disconnect chain hoist from clam assembly. Connect chain hoist to lift
arm crossbeam.
