INSTALLATION (SHEET 3 OF 3)
(14) Check journal clearance, indicated by plastigage width. Clearance must be
between 0.0011 to 0.0046 inch. If clearance exceeds 0.0046 inch, install
undersize inserts (10) to provide clearance of 0.0011 to 0.0046 inch and
regrind journals.
(15) Lubricate inserts (10) using clean OE/HDO 30 engine oil.
(16) Position connecting rod (2) cap; be sure number on cap matches number on
connecting rod.
(17) Lubricate two splined head screws (1) threads and under heads using OE/
HDO 30 engine oil.
(18) Install two splined head screws (1) and tighten to 95 to 105 lb-ft.
(19) Remove three capscrews and flat washers holding cylinder sleeves in posi-
tion.
(20) Connect oil pump suction tube to oil pump (page 3-94).
(21) Install oil pan (page 3-90).
(22) Install cylinder heads (page 3-48).
