MULTIMETER USAGE CONTINUED
000174
1. Select ohms on digital multimeter.
2. Connect digital multimeter leads to wiring harness terminals or component terminals as directed in
troubleshooting. Position of digital multimeter leads (red/black) do not need to be specified during this test.
3. Monitor and record reading. Digital multimeter displays a number representing resistance of wire or component
being tested.
Measuring DC Voltage.
000174
1. Select VOLTS DC on digital multimeter.
2. Select highest VOLTAGE range or a range that is higher than voltage to be measured.
3. Connect red probe to circuit being tested and black probe to low reference circuit, ground circuit, or machine
ground as directed in troubleshooting. If a negative voltage is measured, reverse multimeter probes at test
points.
4. Monitor and record reading. Digital multimeter displays a number representing DC voltage.
Measuring AC Voltage.
000174
1. Select VOLTS AC on digital multimeter.
Digital multimeter displays a number representing AC voltage.
000174
1. Select VOLTS AC.
3. Connect red probe to circuit being tested and black probe to low reference circuit, ground circuit, or machine
ground as directed in troubleshooting.
4. Monitor and record reading. Digital multimeter displays a number representing percent for duty cycle, or Hertz
for frequency.
