REMOVAL CONTINUED
NOTE
Note length and position of each cylinder head bolt to aid in installation.
23. Remove 14 cylinder head bolts (Figure 12, Item 1) from cylinder head (Figure 12, Item 2). Discard cylinder
head bolts.
24. Attach sling and lifting device to cylinder head.
WARNING
Use extreme caution when handling heavy parts. Provide adequate support during
procedure. Ensure any lifting device used is in good condition and of suitable load
capacity. Keep clear of heavy parts supported only by lifting device. Failure to follow this
warning may result in injury or death to personnel.
CAUTION
Injector tips protrude from cylinder head. Place cylinder head on cribbing to avoid contact
with injector tips. Failure to follow this caution may result in damage to equipment.
NOTE
Cylinder head assembly weighs 90 lb (41 kg).
25. Using lifting device, remove cylinder head (Figure 12, Item 2) and cylinder head gasket (Figure 12, Item 3)
from engine and lower onto appropriate cribbing. Discard cylinder head gasket.
26. Remove lifting device and sling from cylinder head.
