Carbon removing compound is extremely toxic and caustic. Wear protective
goggles and gloves and use only in a well ventilated area. Avoid contact
with skin, eyes, and clothes and don’t breathe vapors. Failure to do so
could cause serious injury.
If you become dizzy while using carbon
removing compound, get fresh air and medical attention immediately. If
contact with skin or clothes is made, remove clothing and wash affected
skin area with large amounts of water. If eye contact is made, flush
thoroughly with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes and get
medical aid immediately.
c. Wet nozzle tip assembly and body assembly in carbon removing compound to help
free cap nut.
d. Put a 3/8 inch open end wrench, to
be used as a holding fixture, in a
vise. Position body assembly in
open end wrench as shown.
When performing following step, if
nozzle tip assembly moves with cap
nut it is being held in position in
cap nut. Carbon deposits between
these two parts will cause this.
Stop loosening cap nut. To continue
to loosen cap nut will cause damage
to dowel pins, valve stop, and body
assembly.
e. Using a box wrench and watching nozzle tip assembly, use force to make cap nut
turn a small amount. If nozzle tip assembly turns with cap nut, it is being
held in position in cap nut. Stop loosening cap nut.

f. If nozzle tip assembly turns with cap nut, wet nozzle tip assembly and body
assembly again in carbon removing compound to dissolve carbon until nozzle is
free in cap nut.
