10. LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE (Cont).
Step 9.
Remove two splined head screws securing connecting rod cap.
Remove connecting rod cap.
Place a piece of plastigage on insert in connecting rod cap.
Put clean OE/HDO 30 lubricating oil on threads and under heads of
splined head screws.
Install connecting rod cap and secure using two splined head screws.
Tighten to 95 to 105 lb-ft.
Remove two splined head screws securing connecting rod cap.
Remove connecting rod cap and measure
clearance indicated by width of com-
pressed plastigage. Clearance must be
0.0011 to 0.0046 inch.
a. If clearance exceeds 0.0046 inch,
new inserts must be installed
(page 4-42).
b. If clearance is 0.0011 to 0.0046
inch, put clean OE/HDO 30 lubrica-
ting oil on threads and under
heads of splined head screws.
