Install an 8J8559 Plug whereplug (1) was removed. Install a 6V3965 ValvedNipple in the plug. Use a 6V4143 Coupler toconnect a hose and pressure gauge (0 to 50000kPa (0 to 7500 psi) to the valved nipple.3. Start the engine and lift the lift arms until theyare parallel with the ground. Move the tilt con-trol lever to DUMP position until the bucketis fully dumped. Release the tilt control lever.R E L I E F V A L V E F O R T H E R O D E N D O F T HET I L T C Y L I N D ER2. Cap (on relief valve).4. Increase engine speed to high idle rpm. Lookat the test gauge and move the lift control leverto RAISE position. The high reading on thetest gauge is the pressure setting of the reliefvalve. The high reading on the test gauge mustbe 20 700 ± 340 kPa (3000 ± 50 psi).5. If it is necessary to change the pressure settingof the relief valve, lower the bucket to theground and stop the engine.6. Remove cap (2) from the relief valve and turnthe plunger either clockwise for an increaseor counterclockwise for a decrease in the pres-sure setting of the relief valve.7. When the pressure setting is correct, installcap (2) on the relief valve, remove the hose withthe pressure gauge. The plug and valved nipplecan be left on the machine.NOTE: The pressure setting of a new relief valvefor the rod end of the tilt cylinder is 20700 ± 340kPa (3000 ± 50 psi) with an oil flow of 38 ± 4 liter/min (10 ± 1 U.S. gpm).NOTE: If a test is to be made for the relief valve forthe head end of the tilt cylinder, do not install thecover over the control valve.Relief Valve For Head End Of Tilt CylinderThe relief valve for the head end of the tilt cyl-inder has a higher pressure setting than the mainrelief valve. Because of this high pressure settingan 8S3033 Electric Hydraulic Pump is used to testthe relief valve.1. Stop the engine.
