(f) Check for free rack (48) movement
and time gear segment (46) teeth
to rack teeth. Do this by shining
a pen light into housing. Move
rack and check that first tooth
of gear segment is in first notch
of rack. If necessary, disengage
gear segment from rack and repo-
sition gear segment with control
sleeve (43) attached on rack.
Check that gear segment (and
sleeve) travels its full range on
rack.
(g) Repeat steps (a) through (f)
above to install remaining five
control sleeves (43) and gear
segments (46).
NOTE
All control sleeve (43) slots
must face outward when rack is
moved to position gear segments
(46) in approximate center of
their respective notches in rack.
In this position, control sleeve
slots should be facing outward
a nd
screw
(45) should be
approximately centered above
slot. If necessary, loosen screw
(45) and turn control sleeve to
reposition it.
(12) Install six upper seats (44)
and springs (42).
(13) Install plungers (40) with
lower seats (41) using plunger
pliers. Position identification
mark on plunger vane as shown.
